What is a cold-light laser?
Unlike high power lasers that use heat to cut or cauterize tissue, low energy cold lasers enhance biochemical reactions in the targeted tissue and produce no heat. In somewhat simple terms, visible red light is directed to a specific area. The light energy passes through the skin, and is received within the cell by special energy light acceptors. The increase in cellular energy results in physiological changes affecting several biological processes. Within the injured musculoskeletal tissue, low level laser light starts an increase in circulation and enhanced tissue regeneration. The overall effects are decreased pain and inflammation, and increased mobility. How does it work?
There are many biological processes that take place in tissues that have been shown to respond to Low Level Laser Therapy in the 630-640 nanometer wavelength ranges.
